Horizon 2020 · IAEnhanced Buying Experiences in Smart Cities
SMARTBUY (Grant Agreement No. 687960) was a collaborative R&D project funded under Horizon 2020, led by Luleå University of Technology (Sweden), with Mario Aznar as coordinator and primary lead for project planning and reporting.
The project aimed to develop and test experimental hardware and software solutions in urban environments to enhance local shopping experiences through smart automation and personalization. By deploying smart sensors and IoT technologies, SMARTBUY enabled the real-time matching of supply and demand for local products and services, fostering more efficient, responsive, and attractive local commerce in the context of smart cities.
Pilot implementations were carried out in various municipalities to evaluate the social, economic, and technical feasibility of these technologies, with the ultimate goal of empowering local businesses and citizens through smarter, data-driven urban commerce platforms.
